This work group will use the Problem Solving Model to develop a collaborative
response to the priority need for increased prevention and
early intervention services. The priority need that
has been identified for the 2006-07 fiscal year is parent
education for teen dads.
Our working definition of Early Intervention:
Early intervention is a
continuum; it depends on the individual and his/her
circumstance.
Membership includes representatives from the County, its
school districts,
and interested non-profit partners, and is open to parents.

Key messages about
dads:
Dads are important in the lives of their
children!
-Children
raised with an involved father do better in school and are
less likely to engage in risky behavior.
-Children
have the power to change their fathers. Dads learn to
express emotions and nurture as they care for and play with
their children.
-Communities are healthier and safer when fathers are
present and helping to guide children.
-Dads
don’t need to “live-with” their children to take an active
role and make a difference.
