Individual Interagency Intervention Plan (IIIP)

Legislation/Purpose

In 1998, the state of Minnesota passed legislation titled “Interagency Services to Children With Disabilities Act”, or “1998 Coordinated Interagency Service Act” (MN Statutes 125A.023 and .027).  This legislation stipulates the coordination of services for children and youth with disabilities ages 3 through 21.

This legislation was passed and is continuing because it is best practice for families and children.  The basic components built into the legislation are:

  Ensuring that the family’s priorities guide the goals for their child;
  Having all agencies plan together at one meeting;
  Developing a single plan;
  Coordinating services across all settings: home, school, & community;
  Communicating and coordinating together throughout the year.
